Kanye West is said to be in the midst of prepping for a Yeezy Season 5 presentation, according to an anonymous source quoted in the NY Post.
“He sounded great. He said he was trying to put less stuff on his schedule and be a little bit more restful. He’s scheduling less meetings and he said he was feeling much better,” said the source. No details were provided on when or where West would show, though fall presentations are coming up in February.
The article said West was working on the Yeezy line, but also working on another line, perhaps a reference to the Adidas Originals Calabasas clothing and apparel line, which is said to be a collaborative project with Kim Kardashian.
This isn’t actually surprising news though as per usual the tabloid framed the story as negatively as possible, implying that his last New York Fashion Week presentation was so poorly received that one would expect he would shut down his design endeavors.
And while yes, the execution of the show was less than great, most of the negativity came from a handful of traditional media editors who have never been fans of the concept of West as a designer and also have a big platform from which to voice their complaints.
Just to bring some things back to reality about West’s influence, check out a recent VladTV interview below in which Vladimir Lyubovny discussed West’s impact on Adidas. “He’s literally lifting the entire brand.” He added, “My biggest holding was Nike. For five years I’ve been buying it non-stop. This year, when I found out Kanye was re-upping his deal [with Adidas], I literally sold all my Nike stock and bought all Adidas. That’s how much I believe in it. That’s because I can see the effect not just of the shoes, but of the perception of the brand.”
