Stylist Marni Senofonte, best known for her efforts directing the fashion featured in Beyoncé‘s Lemonade album and The Formation World Tour, has partnered with Barbie on a set of dolls reflecting the street-mixed-with-lux look she is known for.
For the set of six dolls offered in a range of skin hues, Senofonte said she tapped into the same look that defined the fashion featured in both Lemonade visuals and the Formation tour. “Victorian punk was brewing inside of me since I wrapped the costumes for The Formation World Tour and the Lemonade project, both of which were heavily influenced by Antebellum/Victorian dress,” said Senofonte in a press statement. “I guess the nonconformist in me naturally manifested Victorian into Victorian punk and Barbie wears it well!”
Senofonte realized her fashion story through denim, a fabrics she loves because of its fluid nature. “Denim transcends its stereotype, which is why I use it so often in styling,” she explained. “It’s masculine and feminine, as well as being both compliant and rebellious.”
No word yet on when these will be available for release.
