With musical tastes ranging from trap to classical, Yajun Melody Lin creates from a place of diversity informed by the world around her and her constant travels between New York City and her native China. Styled by DJ and stylist Matthew Mazur aka Mazurbate, looks were equal parts elegant and edgy.
For spring 2018, the Parsons alum told us that she was interested by the dialogue between time decay and structure with an emphasis on rebellion. As for the very topical debate of presenting a runway, Lin said, “With technology it’s of course more cost effective to show clothes online but I believe that it’s important for clothes to be seen moving, to be touched and experienced in person as much as possible.”
Yajun is currently stocked at Odd in New York and Lane Crawford. The label is hosting a pop-up public presentation on September 12-13, 2017 at 131 Eldridge Street in Manhattan.
