Known for her conceptual creations making use of faux fur, artist Uzumaki Cepeda recently announced a store restock of her faux-fur earrings and garter belts.
Uzumaki credits her Dominican roots as the inspiration for her work that has led her to create art installations and work with artists including Princess Nokia, Kari Faux and A$AP Rocky’s creative agency, AWGE. Cepeda also was tapped to model in Nike’s first ACG campaign for women, styled by Mellany Sanchez.
“The reason I do that is because I want to create a safe space for myself,” said Cepeda in an interview with The I Am Woman Project. “So I decided to just start taking rooms and everything in there possible and covering it so I feel comfortable in there. I’m from a rough childhood and making a safe space is very important me.”
Uzumaki’s earrings, garter and other items are available uzumaki.gallery/shop.
