Queens rapper Nicki Minaj has dropped the visual for “Barbie Dreams.” a playful diss track paying tribute to Notorius B.I.G.’s “Just Playing (Dreams).” Nicki calls out a long list of male rappers, some of whom are represented in puppet form in the video.
In the visual, Minaj celebrates the colored-hair trend, a look she’s attacked with vigor since taking on Arrogant Tae ne Dionte Gray as her new hair stylist. Commenting on video on Twitter, Minaj wrote, “I’d say yes, absolutely. I missed my colorful era. I love doing my old stuff & improving it @ the same. 🙏🏽 colors have always made me happy & my fans get to reminisce about some good ol times.”
Minaj’s outfits include a bright yellow vintage Gucci coat, denim Chromat ensemble, pink TopShop short set and Prada white boots, crocheted Dior bra, The Blonds bustier and a Christian Cowen check jacket paired with a Gareth Pugh bodysuit. (See @onikaswardrobe for more details.)
