Capitalizing on the press synergy of men’s fashion week in Paris last week, Vans and artist Takashi Murakami held a party celebrating the launch of their collaborative capsule. Held at the Hotel du Grand Veneur, the event took place at French art dealer Emmanuel Perrotin’s gallery, which included the capsule product plus new art pieces created by Murakami for the event. The day began with a press conference including Murakami, as well as Vans vice president of global footwear, Steve Mills. “As someone who wears Vans Slip-Ons nearly every day, the brand is as familiar to me as my own skin. It was a pleasure to take part in a project where I can be this relaxed and freely creative,” said Murakami on the project.
