The British Fashion Council held its 2016 The Fashion Awards ceremony last night at Royal Albert Hall in London, an event that always manages to bring out some big celebrity names, not unlike New York’s CFDA award ceremony.

Notable included Lady Gaga, Gigi Hadid, Anna Wintour, Donatella Versace, Kate Moss, Jaden Smith, Karlie Kloss, Alessandro Michele, Jared Leto, Jourdan Dunn, Joan Smalls, Donatella Versace, Alexa Chung, Naomi Campbell, Marilyn Manson, Demna Gvasalia, Carine Roitfeld, Skepta, Edward Enninful and many more.

This year the organization added luxury streetwear as an award category, which Vetements took home. Nominees in the category were Adidas, Gosha Rubchinskiy, Off White and Palace. Vetements designer Demna Gvasalia also took home the ready-to-wear award for Balenciaga.

Gigi Hadid landed the international model award and Jaden and Willow Smith won the new fashion icon award.

Kid Cudi performed on SNL last night in an Off-Whi Kid Cudi performed on SNL last night in an Off-White floral dress paired with a Ben Baller chain inspired by Takashi Murakami.

For his second appearance, Cudi was clad in a green mohair sweater, Chris Farley t-shirt with Nike x Cactus Plant Flea Market Dunk sneakers.

In addition to a send up to former SNL cast member Farley, who died of an overdose at age 33, both looks worn by Cudi are thought to be a tribute to Kurt Cobain who once performed in a floral dress.

Cobain, who committed suicide at age 27, wore a mohair sweater and jeans during his MTV Unplugged performance in 1993.

Cobain's MTV sweater was auctioned for $334k in 2019.

Interesting! FOG designer Jerry Lorenzo tells Kerw Interesting! FOG designer Jerry Lorenzo tells Kerwin Frost that he doesn't have aspirations to become the creative director of a major fashion house because he wants to stay focused on building his own brand.

In the second clip, he references a Jay-Z line when he notes that Virgil Abloh taking on the role at LV has enabled Lorenzo and others not to. "Like I told you sell drugs; no, Hov did that so hopefully you don't have to go through that."

The whole exchange brings up the question, are we entering into a post legacy luxury label world?
