Azealia Banks Checks In With ‘Improper Etiquette’ Podcast

August 22, 2017. Leave a Comment

Very much back on her music grind, Harlem rapper/singer Azealia Banks visited the Improper Etiquette podcast and covered a lot of topics. It was a bit of a reunion for Banks and co-host Leah McSweeney, who first met Banks as a 16-year-old through McSweeney’s label Married to the Mob.

Hosts McSweeney, Laura Stylez and Banks discussed her Cheapy XO beauty line, buying lower-priced “bootleg” products on Amazon, quitting coffee and figuring out antidepressants and mood stabilizers.

They also talked about ongoing issues with racism in America and while Banks said she doesn’t like Trump, she noted that whoever is in office, “the president of the United States’ job is to uphold white supremacy.”

Banks also declared Conor McGregor as the show’s “Fuckboy of the Week,” and provided some feedback to a listener who wrote in asking for dating advice.

Banks will perform at the Highline Ballroom in New York on August 23, 2017.

Check out the interview below. The interview with Banks kicks off at 14:10.

For his second appearance, Cudi was clad in a green mohair sweater, Chris Farley t-shirt with Nike x Cactus Plant Flea Market Dunk sneakers.

In addition to a send up to former SNL cast member Farley, who died of an overdose at age 33, both looks worn by Cudi are thought to be a tribute to Kurt Cobain who once performed in a floral dress.

Cobain, who committed suicide at age 27, wore a mohair sweater and jeans during his MTV Unplugged performance in 1993.

Cobain's MTV sweater was auctioned for $334k in 2019.

In the second clip, he references a Jay-Z line when he notes that Virgil Abloh taking on the role at LV has enabled Lorenzo and others not to. "Like I told you sell drugs; no, Hov did that so hopefully you don't have to go through that."

The whole exchange brings up the question, are we entering into a post legacy luxury label world?
