“Bodak Yellow” rapper Cardi B continues to make bank, with word coming from Irv Gotti that the Bronx rapper has signed a deal with Steve Madden. “Cardi is so dope and a pleasure to work with. She makes it easy to root for her. And I believe this collaboration with Cardi and Steve [Madden] is gonna make everyone lots of money,” wrote Gotti under an Instagram image showing himself and Madden.
On her own Instagram feed, Cardi uploaded a video in which she appears to be in the midst of a photo shoot. Wearing skin-tight, over-the-knee black boots, Cardi says, “Steve Madden, bitch. You thought they were Balenciaga but they not! Afford the look, bitch.”
In another image labeled “Bardi x Steve Madden,” the 25-year-old mogul wore blue sunglasses, leading us to believe she’s creating a capsule that includes both shoes and accessories.
An ambassador for Fashion Nova, Cardi has long been a proponent of mixing high and low fashion. Thus, partnering with Steve Madden, which is known for selling lower-priced fashionable footwear, makes perfect sense.
Steve Madden is likely to have a better outcome working with the hard-hustling Cardi versus the often tone-deaf Iggy Azealia who collaborated with the brand in 2015, but went on to complain vociferously about the quality of her photoshoot with the brand.
