Props to Casper’s marketing team, who came up with the cute idea of opening a place for worn down New Yorkers to take a pause, relax and maybe even grab some brief shut eye. Called the Dreamery, the Greenwich Village store rents out sleep nooks at the rate of $25 per 45 minutes.
Casper describes the nap store as “a magical oasis in the middle of New York City where you can hit pause and recharge whenever you want.” Naturally, there is an actual Casper mattress store adjacent to the Dreamery.
Each of the nine nooks is outfitted with a Casper mattress, pillows and fresh bed linens, plus auto fading lights, a pendant light for reading, ventilation for airflow and a bedside shelf with outlets (if nothing else it’s a place to recharge your phone in peace).
In addition to the bed, the experience includes a set of Sleepy Jones pajamas (which you have to return) plus samples of Sunday Riley, eye masks, earplugs, and a toothbrush and paste, all of which you can keep.
While you’re napping, there are lockers to store your belongings and a bathroom where you can change and splash water on your face post nap. And though you only get 45 minutes in your nook, you can hang out before or after as long as you like in the lounge, which offers free coffee.
The New York location is the only Dreamery at the moment, but Casper plans to expand the concept to additional cities, college campuses and airports.
You can book a nap on dreamerybycasper.com as well as ClassPass and MindBody. The Dreamery also accepts walk-ins if there’s space is available.
The Dreamery is located at 196 Mercer Street and is open Monday-Saturday from 11:00 AM through 8:00 PM and on Sunday from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
