Photographer and Street Etiquette founder Josh Kissi and medical researcher/model Mekdes Mersha wed at Art Factory Studios in Paterson, NJ, on May 25th with a gorgeous ceremony befitting their styled-themed careers and African heritage.
On Instagram, Mersha, who is 28, wrote, “The Kissi’s— Thank you Jesus for bringing this man into my life. Still can’t stop crying tears of joy 😭”
The 30-year-old Kissi’s thoughts on marriage were just as effusive. On Twitter he wrote, “This weekend I married girl I met on Instagram back in 2014. MR & MRS KISSI — #loveatfirstlike by @micaiahcarter.”
For the wedding ceremony Kissi wore a white custom suit by Ikiré Jones while Mersha wore a white, strapless sheath gown. At the reception, Mr. & Mrs. Kissi respectively wore a tunic and gown designed by Rachel Addison that was coordinated with a bold geometric print. The bride’s hair was styled by Tamee Kaylee with makeup by Alana Wright.
The day after the wedding, the couple followed up with a second ceremony celebrating African-rooted dance, food and dress. The duo both wore traditional African fabrics referencing their parents’ backgrounds: Ghana for the Bronx-born Kissi and Ethiopia for the Seattle-born Mersha.
