Following a lengthy holiday stay in Barbados, Rihanna returned to Los Angeles in early March, a location that’s become her main base of operations since moving on from her posh London abode sometime in the second half of 2020.
Since returning to Los Angeles, Rih Rih has made multiple visits to Italian restaurant Giorgio Baldi, a longtime favorite located in Santa Monica. During her weekly visits, she’s been putting on a show with a series of ‘fits celebrating the look that’s become her signature, a masculine yet feminine blend of buzz-worthy labels combined with to-die-for bags and accessories.
And while Rihanna has always been a fan of vintage coats (frequently sourced from Shrimpton Couture) and bags, as of late she’s been wearing a ton of both.
Styled by Nini Nguyen for her visit to Georgio Baldi on March 19th, she combined a fall 1996 pink and blue Chanel coat with a baby blue Maisie Wilen top and pants set and accessorized with an Alaïa handbag, a dramatic Dior choker and via her fave, Amina Muaddi white pumps.
Providing some background on the Chanel coat, Shrimpton Couture proprietor Cherie Balch took to Instagram where she explained, “Rihanna bought this Fall 1996 Chanel runway jacket from me ages ago and I love that she decided to pull it out of her archives last night and give us all this pastel spring dream look we didn’t know we needed right now.”
Providing props on Rihana‘s skill for mixing the old and new, she added, “She mixes new with vintage effortlessly and I love that she can pull something out of her closet she’s had for ages and make it look fresher then what’s on some of the current runways. That’s the best kind of sustainable fashion and SHE does it best.” Amen!
For a visit on March 11th, according to the always on-point Haus of Rihanna, the Bajan beauty wore a sporty R13 shearling jacket, a Marni cardigan, Miu Miu lace cami and Brain Dead sweatpants. Leaning into a luxe statement, she accessorized with a Goyard handbag and white Amina Muaddi pumps.
Popping in on March 9th, Rihanna wore a handsome charcoal grey t-shirt and camo trousers by Balenciaga, a label she’s returned to repeatedly since designer Demna Gvasalia was appointed the head creative in 2015.
Adding some protection from the chilly evening temperatures Los Angeles is known for, she casually threw a vintage blonde mink fur stole over her shoulders and finished the look off with a pair of Attico pumps, in white naturally.
Our girl kicked off her March visits to Georgio Baldi on the 7th and made a major statement with a super cozy fall 2016 fur Dries Van Noten coat.
Styled once again by Nguyen, she wore a fiery orange and black Mowalola top paired with (according to super sleuth Haus of Rihanna) a vintage Todd Oldam dress converted into a skirt. Not shying away from combining multiple flashy pieces, she flexed an ’80-era Fendi bagged sourced from Vintage by Misty.
Taking the color temperature down a few notches, Rihanna finished the look with a black R13 baseball cap and Amina Muaddi “Henson” pumps (which we guess are named after stylist Matthew Henson).
Will Rihanna fit in one more March visit to Giorgio Baldi before April arrives? One can dream!
