True to his word, music creative and CEO Kanye West held a listening party for his Donda album at a sold out Mercendes Benz Stadium in Atlanta last night (July 22, 2021). Scheduled to begin at 8:00 PM EST, the first song was broadcast closer to 10:00 PM EST with the event wrapping about an hour later. The concert also streamed live for Apple Music subscribers. In typical fashion, West was said to be working on remixing parts of the album with producer Mike Dean up until the event began.

While many of the featured artist on the album had been leaked during West’s first listening party in Las Vegas last Sunday, fans were happily surprised to hear Jay-Z (real name Shawn Carter) rap on the single, “Jail” (above). According to engineer Young Guru (real name Gimel Keaton), Jay-Z ‘s bars were delivered at 4:00 PM EST the day of the show.
The two artists coming together is significant given their fall out years ago over various personal and business-related matters. The last time they appeared together on the same song was Drake’s 2016 single, “Pop Style.” In 2011, West and Jay released a joint album Watch The Throne, which Jay referenced in his “Jail” bars.
For the performance, West wore a red Gap and YEEZY jacket paired with what is presumed to be red pair of Gap and Yeezy pants and an orange pair of as of yet unreleased YEEZY 1020V boots. The 44-year-old artist didn’t sing any of the songs, but instead strode around the field making various motions in time to the lyrics and music. Creating a striking backdrop to his all-red outfit, the entire field was covered with a white textile.

While West performed “Losing My Family,” a song addressing his split with Kim Kardashian West, she attended the event with their four children: North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm. Khloé Kardashian was also in attendance. Kim Kardashian wore a Rick Owens red leather jumpsuit and heels.
Merch sold at the event consisted of a $120 t-shirt adorned with a childhood image of West’s mother, Donda West, on the back and the word Donda and the date of the event printed underneath the Mercedes Benz logo on the front.
Building off of the excitement generated from the event, Gap posted a single image on its Instagram feed of a Gap and YEEZY Round puffer jacket in black, which is now available to purchase for $200 on gap.com/yeezy. The partnership was kicked off with a blue jacket whose sales were limited to the United States. Gap and YEEZY followed with the black version of the jacket, which at the time was only available to Japan and Europe-based customers.
