June marked the return of in-person events with the BET Awards staging a live event hosted at Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theater on June 30, 2021 with Taraji P. Henson hosting the event. Having live performances clearly made a difference in viewership with viewership numbers up by 11 percent from 2020 and 31 percent from the 2019 show, according to Deadline.
The event was a major one for Megan thee Stallion, who took home four awards, the most of any performer. As well, Cardi B lit up social media with the reveal of her second pregnancy during her performance with Migos.
