Shanghai-based Innersect has tapped Fear of God designer Jerry Lorenzo to as co-curator of the company’s annual street culture festival. Founded four years ago, this year’s event is themed on balance and will include a program of guest designers, talks, drops and events. Notably, the event will mark the official debut of Fear of God Athletics, a Fear of God and Adidas partnership first announced in late 2020.
“I look forward to bringing the world of Fear of God to life across our three pillars: Fear of God, Essentials and Fear of God Athletics with Adidas. This is the first time we are activating all three pillars together, which will give our community a deeper understanding of who we are,” said Lorenzo, whose Fear of God label is currently on view at Metropolitan Museum of Art’s “In America: Lexicon of Fashion” exhibit. Lorenzo is also a nominee for the CFDA‘s American menswear designer of the year.
Innersect founder Kaufmann Zhang added, “Jerry Lorenzo has fully demonstrated that his impact on the creative industry has no boundaries. From luxury to sportswear, he resonates perfectly with our values, shares the same progressive mentality on contemporary culture, and embodies the intersection of aesthetics, authenticity, and diversity.”
He added, “With the joint efforts of both sides, we will reach across borders and add to the world’s growing interest in Chinese brands and talent. This is a partnership truly dedicated to youth empowerment that will allow us to grow our innovative, diverse and authentic ecosystem of streetwear culture.”
Innersect‘s event this year will take place in Shanghai from December 10-12, 2021.
