Episode two of “Insecure” titled “Growth, Okay” left the past in the past for the most part by fast-forwarding from episode one a year into the future. Thankfully, Issa Dee (Issa Rae) and Molly Carter’s (Iyvonne Orji) relationship is back on track and both are beginning to mull the idea of moving on from their respective exes.
While Nathan Campbell (Kendrick Sampson) reentered the chat (and not long after quietly exited), the episode is really all about Molly and Issa with not even a single appearance by their co-stars, Tiffany Dubois (Amanda Seales) and Kelli Prenny (Natasha Rothwell).
Styled by costume designer Shiona Turini, the episode included a show within a show in that it ended with a fashion presentation. Produced by Issa, the event was a sponsored showcase for an up-and-coming local designer named Chrenshawn, played by Kofi Siriboe. Notably, one of the guests sitting front row is Pyer Moss creative director Kirby Jean-Raymond, who partnered with Turini on the runway designs.
Designers we were able to identify include House of Harlow 1960, Aliétte, Telfar (multiple sightings: Shopper, earrings, durag!), MindfulFee, Thebe Magugu, JoosTricot, Dodo Bar Or, Chelsea Paris, Christopher John Rogers, Brandon Blackwood, K.ngsley, Amina Muaddi, Fendi and Balenciaga.
