Now we know why Ye has been wearing Balenciaga non-stop for the past year. Today the music creative and CEO announced plans for a YEEZY and Gap collab with Balenciaga designer Demna Gvasalia. The collection will be called YEEZY Gap engineered by Balenciaga.

According to the press release: “Ye pioneers a new creative exploration within the Yeezy Gap universe, Yeezy Gap engineered by Balenciaga. The first of its kind launch sees Ye’s peerless vision bring together the most influential designer of his generation, Demna, with iconic American brand, Gap.

“Yeezy Gap engineered by Balenciaga continues Ye’s commitment to bringing creativity to the forefront and delivering his vision of utilitarian design for all.”

The collection will release sometime in 2022.

The news was released a alongside an Interview editorial featuring Ye and his brand new beau, model Julia Fox. The featured was titled “First Date,” and was photographed by Kevin Leyva.

In the article, Fox said she met Ye on New Years Eve in Miami and experienced an instant connection. The two had their first date in New York at Carbone where Ye directed the Interview photo shoot.

Describing the evening, Fox said, “At the restaurant, Ye directed an entire photo shoot for me while people dined! The whole restaurant loved it and cheered us on while it was happening. After dinner Ye had a surprise for me. I mean, I’m still in shock. Ye had an entire hotel suite full of clothes. It was every girl’s dream come true. It felt like a real Cinderella moment.

“I don’t know how he did it, or how he got all of it there in time. But I was so surprised. Like, who does things like this on a second date? Or any date! Everything with us has been so organic. I don’t know where things are headed but if this is any indication of the future I’m loving the ride.”
