Ye aka Kanye West‘s Mascotte Holdings company filed two new trademarks with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on June 29th 2022, under YZYSPLY™. One trademark covers clothing categories, citing apparel, outerwear, underwear and footwear including “shoes, sneakers, boots, galoshes, sandals, flip-flops, and slippers.”
Hinting that Ye is looking at opening physical stores, the second patent covers the category of “retail stores, retail store services, and on-line ordering services and on-line retail store services available on a global computer network, all of the aforesaid featuring clothing and accessories therefor, footwear, and headwear.”
On Instagram, Ye posted recently wrote that on his mother’s birthday, July 12th, he had a chance to speak to Gap chairman Bob L. Martin, the company’s interim CEO following the departure of Sonya Syngal.
On the exchange, Ye said, “Bob Martin was one of the most inspiring people I’ve heard speak in business. He kept saying go to the stores on the call. I came to Gap to put good product directly in stores. We’ve had 2 of the biggest sales day in Gap history since I’ve been there. We sold 14 million dollars worth of the perfect black hoodie at 80 dollars a hoodie off of a television commercial that was ran one time. I came to Gap to bring good quality products to the people at all times. Bob I need to meet with you as soon as possible.”
Given the recent filing alongside Ye’s 10-year contract with Gap, one has to conclude he’s hoping to launch a joint venture with the chain on retail stores.
