Snobette Sounds: Best New Music By Women: January 2023

TaiCorine: "Freaky T"

February 17, 2023. Leave a Comment

Following a month that included the big splashy launch of SZA‘s SOS album (No. 1 for an 8th week on Billboard’s Hot 200 chart), January functioned as the calm before the Grammys and the kick off of festival season.

It was also a great month for drops by up and coming artists like South Carolina native TiaCorine and Ice Spice, as well as much-loved established musicians with a more niche following. In addition to TiaCorine and Ice Spice, January’s top new music by women includes singles by or featuring Justine Skye, Chloë, Maeta, Kari Faux, Flo Milli, Gloss Up, GloRilla, Kali Uchis and Tink.

Submit music to me, Europe Angelique, on Twitter and find the monthly-updated Snobette Sounds Spotify playlist here.

Prior to working at US Vogue in 2010, Nnadi held editorial roles at The Fader and Trace.

In press about the appointment, Nnadi shared, I’m beyond excited and honored to have been appointed as British Vogue’s head of editorial content. As someone who was born and raised in London, the energy of the city, its boundary-pushing style and creative scene, has shaped the way I look at the world."

She added, "Now, more than ever, it feels like a moment to look beyond borders while also celebrating the broad scope of what it means to be British. I’m looking forward to engaging a loyal and inspired digital community that is energised by our access, point of view, and storytelling.”

Congratulations, Chioma!!
