Grammy winning music creative Solange Knowles is lightening her load with news she is selling her home in Los Angeles along with a property in New Orleans. Foreshadowing the sale of her L.A. home, the normally private Knowles invited Apartamento into her home for a recent cover story on her chic digs located on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame.
The L.A. loft is priced at $799,000, while the 100-year-old former church boasting 18-foot ceilings is priced at $950,000 (above) and is now under contract.
Just 19 and living in Houston with her son when she purchase the L.A. property, she used the space when she was in the city working on collaborative music projects. During a period when she lived in New York, her mother Tina Knowles-Lawson moved in while her own home was being renovated. “She totally Tina-fied it and painted all of the walls and put in curtains and added a bedroom. In the six months she stayed in it, she transformed it,” said Knowles.
It’s fair to say Knowles has since Solo-fied the 1,360-square-foot one-bedroom property, putting her own personal stamp on the window-filled space by filling it with Black art, vintage furniture and a to-die for custom velvet sofa.
As for the property located in New Orleans’ French Quarter, Knowles purchased the brick building in 2018. The plan at the time was for the building to operate as a headquarters for her Saint Heron agency, however, based on images revealing a relatively unfinished space, it doesn’t appear as though she went forward with the plan.
While the church will soon exit her portfolio, the 36-year-old Knowles is said to still own a home in French Quarter. Way back in 2013, it as rumored she had closed on a four bedroom home in Bywater, but she backed out at the last minute.
