Foot Locker-owned Atmos announced that is will be ceasing operations in North America, including the company’s e-commerce site and three stores in New York, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. Foot Locker said it closed the chain to focus growth in Japan and Asia.
Patrick Walsh, Atmos senior vice president and general manager, stated, “The Atmos brand possesses a unique and authentic identity, character, and spirit. Given Atmos’s strength in Japan and Asia, we are committed to further investing in these regions. Consequently, as part of our simplification strategy, we have made the strategic choice to close our three Atmos stores in North America and discontinue the Atmos U.S. website. We are confident that this move aligns with Atmos’s growth goals and will allow us to better serve our customers in Asia by promoting sneaker and street culture.”
Foot Locker purchased Atmos and West Coast shoe chan WSS for $1.1 billion in cash just two years ago. The acquisition of Atmos, was specifically completed for $360 million in cash.
