Toronto rap artist Drake dropped Certified Lover Boy at about 2:00 AM EST this morning (September 3, 2021), a 21 song project and his sixth studio album. Featured artists are as follows in order of their appearance on the album: Lil Baby, Lil Durk, Giveon, Jay-Z, Travis Scott, Future, Young Thug, Yebba, 21 Savage, Project Pat, Tems, Ty Dolla $ign, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross and Kid Cudi. The album includes a Nicki Minaj interlude but not a feature.

Following the release of Certified Lover Boy‘s controversial Damien Hirst album art, Drake‘s team kept the chatter going with a series of billboards providing info on featured artist to be including on the project. Launched in multiple U.S. and in Lagos, Nigeria, the billboards’ locations combined with key phrases provide names and clues, some obvious, some less so, about who will be on the long-awaited project.
A billboard in Atlanta flat out stated 21 Savage, Future, Lil Baby, and Young Thug would be included on the album, while a Chicago billboard revealed “Smurk” aka Lil Durk as a featured artist. In Cleveland, the sign referenced Kid Cudi through his nickname Cudder.
In Los Angeles a billboard popped up reading, “Hey California Giveon and Ty Dolla [$ign] are on CLB” while on the opposite coast, a Miami billboard announced “The Biggest Boss” a clear reference to Rick Ross. In Memphis, the sign announced Grammy-Award-winning music creative Yebba and rapper Project Pat as included, and in Houston there’s some debate about who the “hometown hero” is with most suggesting it’s more likely to be Trae the Truth than Travis Scott.
Across the ocean on another continent altogether, a massive highway overhead sign in Lagos, Nigeria let it be known female singer/songwriter Tems would be on the album.
Drake reserved two billboards, one in Toronto and one in New Orleans for Lil Wayne, who was referenced with a sign reading, “Hey Toronto the best rapper alive signed me in 2009 and is on CLB.” In New York City, the billboard described the featured artist as the “GOAT,” a likely reference to Nicki MInaj, who has a long association with Drake through Young Money Entertainment. Cementing the likelihood the billboard is referencing Minaj, she hinted at the inclusion on an Instagram (above) post today in which she referenced Drake-related lyrics from “No Fraud.” That said, the GOAT descriptive could be a reference to Jay-Z or perhaps both.
